Following the filming last week I now have the exact time of broadcast. The programme will on S4C Wednesday 24th March 2010 at 8.25pm. It will be repeated on the following Monday. The programme will have sub-titles for those who dont understand Welsh.

WORKING PARTY WEEKEND

Working party weekend is on March 13th/14th. Although lots of the usual jobs cannot be done while building is still going on there are loads of items on the To Be Done list. Please come along it is always a fun weekend and Robin has said he will do a quiz in the evening for us. If you are a new member come and meet new friends if you are a long standing member you must realise how much work is needed to be done and why leave it to just a few.

Dovey Yacht Club Handbook

Apologies that you have not yet received your 2010 Handbook. It has been at the printers for several weeks now and the printer is still quoting 2 – 3 weeks so that will take us up to Easter. Just a reminder that the Dinghy Sailing programme starts on 20th March you will be sailing for The Spring Cup.

When S4C came to DYC

S4C came to Aberdovey on Wednesday 3rd March, a really really cold windy day to film their 2 presenters learning to sail. With the help of Nick Dawson from Outward Bound along with our three intrepid sailors Laura, Joe & Harrison they set sail. Arwell transported the Camera man , Sound Engineer & Producer around on the Rib and Pete and Bob were on Safety Boat. The programme is due to be on S4C on Wednesday 17th or 24th March (keep a look out for it, it is called Tocyn). It will be in Welsh, but will be on their Website you can watch it with English Sub Titles.

It is with great sadness that we have to announce the death of a very dear friend and member of Dovey Yacht Club. Vic Gowers died on 11th February with his wife Bron by his side. He was a great character and will be missed by us all. Vic was a member of the Committee and until recently was Editor of the Dovey Bell and Dovey Handbell. Our thoughts are with Bron and family.

EASTER DINNER Sat 3rd April

We are now taking names for the Easter Dinner. It will be £12.50 for 3 Courses. Lynn Benson has kindly volunteered to cook for us that evening. Only 50 places so get your names in quickly. We only have the lounge available to put a list up, so you can only get to that when the Bar is open, which is Friday evenings after 9.00pm.

CHANGING ROOM REFURBISHMENT

As the club is being knocked about and there is alot of dust at the moment, social meals are out of the question. The Bar will be open every Friday evening from 9.00 access by the Fire Escape.

The first social after the Refit will be The Easter Dinner on Saturday 3rd April then an Ex Commodores Supper on April 24th if you are interested in coming to either of these you will need to ring Jane on 01654 767048 as no lists can go up at the moment.

We apologise for the disruption but are sure you will appreciate that it will be worth it in the end.

CRUISER RACES 2010

Just a reminder to all Cruiser owners our racing programme is starting early this year to try and get some races in before the bad weather of the summer if the last three years are anything to go by.

We start on May 8th with the Penhelig Trophy, May 9th Sunday Series 1, May 22nd Catrin Trophy, May 23rd Sunday Series 2.

Then the Milford Haven Cruise in June.

Cinderella Pantomime

Due to some cancellations we now have 4 tickets left for the last night of the Pantomime (Saturday February 6th). Eat at the Club at 6.00 then go to the Panto at Neuadd Dyfi for 7.30 back to Club for Cheese & Biscuits. All this for £10.00. Always a good night out and from what I have seen this years panto Cinderella is going to be superb. Ring Jane on 01654 767048 if you would like to reserve any tickets.
