Windy Club - what is it all about?

Q and A with Dan Stevens

Dan Stevens set up the aptly named "Windy Club" at DYC in 2021, giving access to the water for everyone.

Dan, What prompted you to set up Windy Club?

Late evenings, good wind, great facility at DYC with Club boats available to be utilised. Awesome opportunity to get more people, of all ages and abilities on the water. Also a great excuse to visit the Clubhouse bar afterwards too!

Who has Windy Club attracted?

I set it up for people who have a basic understanding of the sport they want to do, or want to try something new to see if it is for them. Some, but not all, have had some tuition and are looking for a bit of security in the way of security cover on the estuary. We have qualified volunteers out on safety boats during the evenings.

When and where does Windy Club take place?

Thursday evenings between 5.30 and 7.30 with the bar opening afterwards. Obviously subject to weather conditions!

What do you get out of running Windy Club?

I enjoy the social side of it, witnessing people progress and enjoy the area and sports they take part in. Love to see people having a blast!

How can people get involved?

Whether you want to come out on the water, or be a helping hand with the boats one evening please get in touch. You can book online via our webcollect on the website. Please give it a try!
